The LEAD Public Speaking Club is designed to help students build confidence, practice effective
communication, and prepare for the district-wide Speech Contest. Through these meetings, students
will learn the fundamentals of speech writing and delivery, while developing their own voice and style.
This club provides a supportive environment where students can practice public speaking in front of
their peers, receive constructive feedback, and grow more comfortable presenting their ideas to an
audience. The goal is not only to prepare for the contest but also to build lifelong skills in organization,
self-expression, and leadership.
By the end of the club, students will:
• Understand the structure and elements of an effective speech.
• Gain experience presenting in front of an audience.
• Learn techniques for engaging listeners and speaking with confidence.
• Be prepared to participate in their school’s speech contest, with the opportunity to advance to
the district level.
Participants must currently be in grades 4 to 6.
Registration starts on 09/12/2025 and ends on 12/19/2025.
Please contact Los Altos Elementary if you have any questions.
